Biography
Aran Cosentino (Udine, 2002) is an Italian artist, photographer and activist.
Raised in the Natisone Valleys, he cultivated a passion for art and beauty from childhood, inherited from his father and paternal grandfather, both painters.
His early inclination for audiovisual media was evident during elementary school, where he participated in several short films, making his debut at only 6 years old in 2008 as a co-star in TG Natale.
At the age of fourteen, in 2016, he distinguished himself through his fervent commitment to the protection of the Alberone stream, at the slopes of Mount Matajur. He launched an awareness campaign against the construction of an unsustainable hydroelectric plant and mobilized public opinion. His struggle led to the collection of over a thousand signatures and concluded in 2018 with the final withdrawal of the project.
At the age of sixteen, in 2018, he won the award for best photography at the national TuttoMondo Contest by Save the Children Italia, conferred upon him in Palermo by famous photojournalist Letizia Battaglia.
In 2021, he graduated from the Giovanni Sello Art High School in Udine with a specialization in audiovisual and multimedia, creating the short film TUTTO e NIENTE and receiving an excellent final grade.
His professional development has been marked by significant collaborations. In addition to working with renowned director of photography Peter Zeitlinger, he participated in three editions of the Venezia International Photo Festival as a photography assistant.
In this context, he assisted internationally acclaimed masters: in 2023, he collaborated with Arthur Hubert Legrand in a workshop on the female nude; in 2024, he supported photojournalist Reza Deghati in a portrait workshop; and in 2025, he assisted Stefan Rappo, thus specializing in authentic portraiture.
His career has been distinguished by encounters with world-renowned masters of photography, including Steve McCurry, Sebastião Salgado, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Oliviero Toscani, and Michael Kenna.
In 2025, he graduated with honors (cum laude) with a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Arts from the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, defending a thesis focused on Carl Gustav Jung's concept of the Shadow.
His talent was further honored with two prestigious awards, conferred upon him in Trieste at the beginning of September 2025 during the International Festival of Young Excellence: the Young Excellence Award, with the honorary title of "Environmentalist Photographer of Excellence", and the Austria Imperialis Award "for his civic commitment to the protection of Nature as a whole, and of rivers in particular".

Biografia
Aran Cosentino (Udine, 2002) è un artista, fotografo e attivista italiano.
Cresciuto nelle Valli del Natisone, ha coltivato fin dall'infanzia una passione per l'arte e la bellezza, ereditata dal padre e dal nonno paterno, entrambi pittori.
La sua precoce inclinazione per l'audiovisivo si è manifestata durante la scuola elementare, dove ha partecipato a diversi cortometraggi, esordendo a soli 6 anni nel 2008 come co-protagonista nel TG Natale.
A quattordici anni, nel 2016, si è distinto per il suo fervente impegno nella tutela del torrente Alberone, alle pendici del Monte Matajur. Avviò una campagna di sensibilizzazione contro la realizzazione di un impianto idroelettrico non sostenibile e mobilitò l'opinione pubblica. La sua battaglia portò alla raccolta di oltre un migliaio di firme e nel 2018 si concluse con il definitivo ritiro del progetto.
A sedici anni, nel 2018, ha ottenuto il premio per la miglior fotografia al concorso nazionale TuttoMondo Contest di Save the Children Italia, conferitogli a Palermo dalla celebre fotoreporter Letizia Battaglia.
Nel 2021, si è diplomato presso il Liceo Artistico Giovanni Sello di Udine in audiovisivo e multimediale, realizzando il cortometraggio TUTTO e NIENTE e ricevendo un'ottima votazione.
La sua crescita professionale è stata contraddistinta da importanti collaborazioni. Oltre al lavoro con il rinomato direttore della fotografia Peter Zeitlinger, ha preso parte a tre edizioni del Venezia International Photo Festival come assistente fotografo.
In tale contesto, ha affiancato maestri di fama internazionale: nel 2023 ha collaborato con Arthur Hubert Legrand in un workshop sul nudo femminile; nel 2024 ha supportato il fotogiornalista Reza Deghati in un workshop sul ritratto; e nel 2025 ha assistito Stefan Rappo, specializzandosi così nel ritratto autentico.
La sua carriera si è pregiata di incontri con maestri della fotografia di fama mondiale, tra i quali Steve McCurry, Sebastião Salgado, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Oliviero Toscani e Michael Kenna.
Nel 2025, ha conseguito con lode la laurea triennale in Arti Multimediali presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, discutendo una tesi incentrata sul concetto di Ombra di Carl Gustav Jung.
Il suo talento è stato inoltre insignito di due autorevoli riconoscimenti, conferitegli a Trieste all'inizio di settembre 2025 durante il Festival Internazionale delle Giovani Eccellenze: il Premio Giovane Eccellenza, con il titolo onorifico di "Fotografo ambientalista di eccellenza", e il Premio Austria Imperialis "per il suo impegno civico nella tutela della Natura nel suo complesso, e dei fiumi in particolare".
